Mindfulness takes time and repetition to intentionally practice, especially with how busy life can be. Some activities may allow us to be more mindful and present than other activities. As Daron Larson noted, “trying” to be mindful often distracts from the balance and core of practicing mindfulness. Therefore, in learning mindfulness, it can be important to reflect on times being intentional with our mindfulness is easier than others and how we can reflect on these moments. The journal entry should be no more than 3 pages and no less that a page and a half (1.5 spaced, font- TNR or Georgia). This assignment will be graded as complete/incomplete. Word documents are the only submission format that will be accepted.
Journal Entry Instructions: During this week, be mindful of yourself in various activities and allow yourself to reflect on these activities. Think of time spent in activities that allowed you to be “intentional” with your mindfulness. These activities can revolve around any aspect of your week from your commute, cooking dinner, talking on the phone, etc. Use the following questions to guide your thinking:
What are/is the activity/activities you felt yourself most intentionally practicing mindfulness?
How did you feel about your ability to be intentional in practicing mindfulness during this activity?
Reflect on how your body felt being intentional with your mindfulness during this activity.
Were there any activities you felt you had to actively “try” more to practice mindfulness during?
What are ways you can practice being intentional in these more difficult moments?
