Classmate 1. (100 words)
After learning about “Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development” and “Other Theories of Cognitive Development”, I found intersubjectivity the most interesting. Intersubjectivity is the mutual understanding that people share during communication. Intersubjectivity serves as the foundation of human cognitive development. The parent is showing the child their thoughts and emotions to try and have the child reciprocate it. The parent showing their own experience impacts the child’s experience. The image I provided, shows a mom teaching her child how to play with a toy. The emotions the mom is showing the child will be absorbed and repeated. The concept of intersubjectivity is very important for the development of a child because it shows the importance of interactions. Keeping the child engaged and interested is essential for their growth and development. You are also showing your child how to collaborate and work with others in a social setting. Every person a child sees or interacts with has an impact on them. Children focus on how we act in certain situations so they know how to act as well. It is very important to be a positive role model to children and teach them the correct behaviors in order for them to develop.

Classmate 2 (100 words)
This module about Piagets theory was very interesting i was very invested. I learn that Piaget’s theory of cognitive development suggests that a child’s intelligence level changes as he or she grows. Bergin and Bergin do note that these changes in intelligence levels happen in sequence, but each child is subject to differences in how long it takes to move to the next stage. Piaget breaks the development into four stages: sensorimotor, pre-operational, concrete operational, and formal operational. In each of the videos in this week’s module, you can see the children’s answers become more in depth and accurate. The children involved are a variety of ages, and the different stages of the Cognitive Development Theory can be observed. An example of Assimilation and accommodation is, one day while in a stroller with mom and dad, a squirrel runs across the sidewalk. The baby has never seen a squirrel before, so he points to the squirrel and says “doggy”. The child’s schema for “dog” includes the concepts of furry animal, four legs, tail. The child interprets stimuli according to its existing schema. This is assimilation. Mom and dad have a chuckle and then say “squirrel”. Now the child will modify their understanding to include two schemas: one for dog and one for squirrel. This is accommodation; altering an existing schema to take into account new information. This video was really good and informative, i really understand all the stages.
