3.1. Discussing Theory
After completing all the readings, please discuss the pros and cons about the different theoretical approaches to trauma (i.e., CBT, Psychodynamic, etc.). What are the limitations of the different theories? What is the theoretical orientation that makes sense to you to explain the phenomenon of trauma? Thinking about the fundamentals of psychotherapy, what elements do you think are important to be present in therapy for trauma regardless of the therapeutic approach you choose to use?
3.2. Countertransference
In considering the concern around countertransference, how do you think you would approach minimizing this effect? How do you think you will become aware if this phenomenon is occurring to you? How can you help yourself in the process of awareness of your own experience in trauma counselling?
