You are a privacy consultant in Ontario being asked to analyze and critique a client’s Privacy Policy. The client, a health information custodian, made the policy a long time ago and feels it may be time for an update. Your client wants to know which parts of the current policy they should keep and what needs improving. They want to ensure they are compliant with Ontario’s privacy laws and communicating with patients in a transparent manner.
Overview
You must find a privacy policy of a health information custodian (“HIC”) in Ontario, such as a hospital, paramedic services, family health team, dental office, naturopathic clinic, etc. Post your selected HIC on eClass so others do not review the same one. Mackenzie health
To write your memo, you must review all 10 privacy principles. For each principle, provide meaningful feedback for your client. If something is done well, what is it and why? If something is missing or less than ideal about the policy, what is it? Be sure to address all 10 principles, although some can be addressed in greater detail than others. Structure your paper based on the 10 principles, not essay format. Headings and sub- headings are greatly appreciated.
Use sources to help you explore how the policy could be improved. You do not need to cite sources for all 10 principles, but you should aim to cite a primary and/or secondary source at least twice to support your feedback on the policy.
Group (optional)
You may choose to complete this assignment in a group of two students. One of you may submit the assignment on TurnItIn on the other’s behalf. Please put both names on the cover page. You will both receive the same grade regardless of contribution.
