With new advancements in medical genetics technology, there is hope for better treatments related to many different cancers. Breast cancer, melanoma, and prostate cancer are some examples where gene manipulations can increase survival rates for persons with these diseases. For this assignment, you will examine the manipulation of genome and epigenome and learn a bit about CRISPR for cancer treatment.
Upon successful completion of this assignment, you will be able to:
Explain how cancer may be treated with gene manipulation.

Read Chapter 11, pages 220-224 in your textbook, Medical Genetics.
Read CRISPR/Cas9 for Cancer Treatment: Technology, Clinical Applications and Challenges(new tab).
Compose a 3-5 page paper (page numbers do not include the title page and reference page). The paper must include the following:
A title page
An introduction
Discuss the various types of cancers that may benefit from gene manipulation and explain how this works
A conclusion
At leastâ¯2 scholarly referencesâ¯(within the last seven years)
Use APA formatting per the 7th edition APA manual guidelines for the paper and references.
Compose your paper in the third person, using a scholarly tone and in-text citations for statements of fact.
