STEP 1: PICK A NURSING TREND
I already chose a topic “The use of overflow and overcapacity beds in acute care units”
STEP 2: CRITIQUE YOUR RESEARCH ARTICLE.
In this assignment you will review and critique scholarly research. You must evaluate the research/article and provide a concise summary of the work in your own words (paraphrased). Do not simply quote the research outcomes, but fully synthesize the key findings of the research in your own words. You must also identify areas of strength and weakness in the research.
Some things to consider when evaluating include:
The accuracy of the resource (does it come from a reputable journal or organization, is it current)
Any bias found within the resource (does the author have funding or conflicting reasons for doing the research, do they provide strong references in their work)
The relevance of the resource (does the information suit your topic, does it apply to PN’s)
The clarity of the resource (is the research finding clear, is the conclusion or purpose clearly stated)
Transferability to others (other nurses, LPN or RN or environment, Canada, Hospital, Community)
STEP 3: APPLICATION OF RESEARCH TO CLPNA COMPETENCIES
After thorough synthesis and analysis of the research, you will need to identify either a CLPNA competency or CLPNA competency statement that connects to the research you reviewed and apply the knowledge gained from your article critique to the competency.

STEP 4: APPLICATION OF EVIDENCE/COMPETENCIES IN CURRENT OR FUTURE PRACTICE
Finally, taking the evidence you have collected from your critique and the accompanying CLPNA competency, explain how you will incorporate the research into your own practice in the future.
