CASE STUDY INSTRUCTIONS
Hello Everyone,
Please read these carefully, this will tell you exactly how to complete this case study. I’m sure it seems picky to you, but I have to grade a lot of them fairly quickly while still paying close attention to each; if you follow a few instructions, it helps me get consistent and thoughtful feedback to you before the end of the course.
There are 4 short answer questions based on the case study presented. They each have a point value assigned. The assignment is worth a total of 100 points.
Please download the document in Word form, and insert your answers in a different text color (except don’t use red – that’s mine for grading) or italics directly under the question. Please do not make a new document of just answers, or delete questions to make more room, etc. Also, do not paste the whole thing in the textbox. Often when I am reading an answer I need to refer immediately to the precise wording of the question, and if it isn’t right in front of me, I lose a lot of time opening another document. Multiply that x 100 students, and you can imagine how much time it can add to test grading!
Also – please do not delete the two pages of instructions, or any instructions within the case, including examples I’ve given.
I know it sounds rigidly inflexible, but if the case study is not submitted according to these instructions you will have 10 points deducted from the grade you earn. This is not negotiable. I’ve learned the hard way if I am not firm on this, I spend many extra hours with the grading process – and I have to get grades back in a timely way. Plus….it’s just not unreasonable to expect graduate students to follow such well-defined instructions.
When you have completed the case, save it. This way, if there is any trouble or error in submitting it, you have a copy that shows the
creation date.
Once you have completed the case study, upload your Word document in the assignment box for week 8.
Like a learning unit, this exam is due to be by 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, March 5th. You should be working on it as the quarter progresses. Late assignments will not be accepted.
You may use resources, but please DO NOT CITE OR QUOTE. I don’t want to know what other sources (including myself and my notes) said…I want to know how you have synthesized and applied what you’ve learned. This is very important. I don’t want citation or quoting…I want to know what you know, and how you are thinking it through and applying it.
Finally, this is a solitary effort. You may use your notes, work with your peers, or any other study mechanism….but the work you submit is the one you will be graded on.
If you have questions – please don’t wait til the last minute. Remember, I do not read email or respond on the weekend…and remember that you need to allow up to 2 business days for responses. Don’t want until the day before this is due to fire off email questions!
Finally…be sure to scroll thru all info given. This case study (after these instructions) is 5 pages long.
Good luck!
