These are long-term faith based drug and alcohol programs. They will be age 18 and older and it will be voluntary participation where they will recieve a link to the survey. The survey will include these assessment tools: ACE Questionaire, TAPS (answer as if just entering the program, need insight on severity of addiction upon entering hte program), and PCL-5. These assessments will provide info on history of trauma/adverse childhood experiences, current traumatic symptoms, and severity of addiction upon entering the program. Looking for a releationship between HX trauma/current trauma symtpoms and the severity of addiction upon entering the program. Implications of study will likely provide information on need for trauma-informed training for program staff as well as need to implement professional christian counseling to address trauma issues along with SUD issues.
It will be a quantitative study , 2 independant sample t test.
RQ1: Is there a connection between history of adverse childhood experiences and severity substance use that brought the participant to entering long term faith based program
RQ 2: Is there a connection between current traumatic symtpoms and severity of addiction upon entering the program.
Hypothesis: A higher score on the ACE Questionaire will be correlated with an increase in severity of substance use.
Hypothesis 2: Increase traumatic symtpoms will be correlated with an increased severity of substance use disorder.
