After reading a couple of these, a checklist taken from the PPTs Advantages
and Disadvantages with X’s and 0’s will not suffice. These would obviously
favor the in-house candidate. So you will need to give some critical thoughts
on the circumstances or assumptions that apply to substantiate one candidate over the other e.g. improved morale is not guaranteed by hiring within…what if the person chosen is not well liked by others? What if the inhouse person is their peer but now would be their superior…how would that be perceived? That is critical thinking and what I am looking for. And clearly some of the listed items don’t apply to two equally qualified candidates…the timeliness of hiring may
have been important at the start of the recruitment process but is not relative
to filling it once down to the finalists. If the candidates are equal would the
Peter Principle apply? CRITICAL THINKING is key.
