“As a nursing leader, the entry-level education requirement for the nurses I would hire would be an associate degree. From my experience in working in a hospital setting, ADN and BSN nurses work side by side and delegate the same task and uphold the same expectations. In my personal experience as a nurse, skills and critical thinking is enhanced depending on years of experience, more than level of education. According to Thielmann et al. (2019), patient satisfaction and decision-making are not altered based on nursesâ level of education. One of the major ways to measure quality of nursing care, is by measuring patient satisfaction. To be able to distinguish the practice of nurses and the care that they are implementing, patient outcomes should be evaluated. A study was done by Karaca & Durna (2019), which surveyed 635 patients about their satisfaction and quality of care. They found that nursesâ level of education did not correspond with the patientsâ level of satisfaction as their education increased (Karaca & Durna, 2019). High levels of patient satisfaction correlated with communication, length of hospital stay, feeling cared for and patient involvement in decision-making. (Karaca & Durna, 2019). Building these quality nursing skills develop over time and can not be acquired based on education alone.”
