I have attached the guidelines below. I’d like to use a personal story as my opening to catch my audiences attention and use pieces of it throughout to tie it all together.
Story- a stranger knocked on my door screaming and crying for help. She said her dad passed out in her apartment. My husband and I ran to the apartment to help. The mother was holding his naked body slumped on the side of the tub. He wasn’t responsive and not breathing. I jumped in the tub to grab him to get him to the floor and my husband took his legs. I began CPR while she called 911. I performed cpr for about 15mins until the paramedics arrived. He left stable and died later that night at the hospital. A week later the there were flowers left on my porch. The note said “Thank you so much for your help. My dad was visiting from Indonesia and arrived that morning before I got off of work. I hadn’t seen him in 5 years. You kept him here long enough for me to be able to say goodbye. Happy nurses week”
