This quarter, we will complete four total assignments.
The early assignments build toward the final assignment, due during finals week.
Your goal for the final assignment is to write three recommendations for well-being that are grounded in evidence from psychology (and to cite the research to support these recommendations).
For the Final assignment, you will submit 3 recommendations for well-being from the field of psychology to demonstrate your learning from our class this quarter.
This assignment will showcase your knowledge of Introductory Psychology instead of completing a final exam.
Follow each step below.
Carefully read the instructions about the work you will submit.
Step 1: Review my feedback on the previous assignments
Be sure you INCORPORATE the feedback provided in the outline. I will be double-checking your work to ensure you have made the suggested improvements.
Feedback: Be sure to include at least 3 sources for each recommendation. I still awarded full credit because I am assuming that you will use the textbook as a source for each recommendation, but wanted to clarify here so you know how to move forward in the final project.
Get more specific about this recommendation.
What should people with anxiety do related to mindfulness? How often should they meditate, if at all?
How often do you recommend people exercise to
reduce anxiety, based on what the research says?
Be sure to consider who your audience will be for
your paper to help you make decisions about tone
and content.
Step 2: Expand your sources
Be sure you cite multiple sources for each recommendation. Remember, your recommendations for well-being will demonstrate your knowledge of psychology AND will come from research, which is communicated by research articles (scholarly, peer-reviewed sources). Research articles are cited throughout our textbook
Refer to the textbook first as your first source.
Be sure your references (from assignment 3) are sufficient to demonstrate your knowledge and to support a recommendation, or advice, to improve well-being.
You may need to supplement your research at this step; search for articles online.

Step 3: Compose your final assignment
Your final assignment can be formatted in a variety of ways:
Brief report: approximately 3 total pages; 750-1000 words
Presentation: slides & recording (panopto or other recording software) or podcast; 5-10 minutes
Artistic or creative medium: such as infographic, note that you can incorporate text or a supplementary document to ensure concepts and references are cited
CONTENT:
Three recommendations to encourage well-being related to concepts and material from class
Each recommendation will be evidence-based and actionable – be specific in describing the details of what you recommend (when, how often, where, etc).
In other words, you will cite the textbook and research to support your recommendation
Pay careful attention to ORGANIZATION
Use proper paragraph organization – topic sentence, supporting information (with citations), and transitions between ideas
Note that you do not need to include a transition between recommendations (i.e. each recommendation can be stand-alone
Each source should be cited the FIRST time it is referenced, and each topic requires 3 sources
Follow the FORMATTING guidelines:
Paraphrase the information from the original source, organize the information, and cite your source appropriately.
NO DIRECT QUOTATIONS
Include an in-text citation the first time you refer to each source. See examples:
According to Author and colleagues (year), ….
Paraphrase information (Author et al., year).
