HED212 â Womenâs Health and Wellness
Purpose â The purpose of this project is to create a self-care strategy and practice with the goal of creating one healthy self-care habit.
Directions â
1. Read each question carefully and respond to all parts of every question.
2. Number and letter all responses.

4. Submissions must be in complete sentences, and checked for spelling and grammar.
5. Cite sources for any information involving data or statement of information that should be cited.

Read the research article: Stress and the Multiple Role Woman, which can be found as a PDF in your module or at this link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4376732/ Please note that research articles can be challenging to read. Donât try to understand every bit of it. Go through it a couple of times and focus on the main ideas. The Abstract and Discussion sections are usually most useful. a.) Summarize the main points of the article. b.) Describe how the research findings of this article relates to you or women you know and/or discuss how the findings are different from your experience or the experiences of women you know.
2. Describe how gender and/or culture influence your life and your health.
3. Review examples of behaviors that can be protective of your health from the Dimensions and Behaviors document. Which areas are you strongest in with healthy behaviors? Which area(s) have need for improvement? (Review Module 3 for Dimensions info)
4. Choose one healthy strategy would you like to focus on toward your self-care (that you are not already doing) Create a SMART goal that is specific and measurable with a self-care behavior. (See examples at the bottom of the Dimensions and Behaviors document.)
5. Discuss reasons why self-care and healthy behaviors are so important, particularly for women.
6. Discuss the potential negative consequences if you do not carry out your goal behavior.
7. According to the Transtheoretical Model, what stage are you currently in with your SMART goal behavior? (Review Module 3)
8. Describe a.) challenges that will exist in attempting to carry out this behavior and b.) strategies to address the challenges.
9. Discuss the science that supports moving in this direction with your self-care behavior, and specifically how you assessed reliability of the information, based on information in Module 2 on Reliability.
10. Explain why tracking your progress is important and describe what method of tracking you will use to document your progress with this endeavor.
