the two barriers I find in implementing my capstone project on how to improve compliance among nurses in a medical surgical unit in conducting bedside report in the patient’s room, one is compliance moitoring. Compliance monitoring should be done by an assistant nurse manager or a charge nurse. If there is staff shortage, the assistant mananger or charge nurse is given extra patient load and this may cause lack of time for them to do compliance monitoring. The involvement of leadership in ensuring compliance is much needed for the daily practice of condcuting bedside report in the patient’s room to hapoen. Another barrier is lack of time. Another barrier is staff resistance to change. As mentioned by some nurses, nurses who have ben working in the unit for 20-30 years are not adaptable to the change. They want to do the old fachioned way and the new nurses are scared to force them to do the proper bedside report during shift change. Please elaborate.
