Students will conduct a self-analysis/assessment of conflict management style and complete a self-assessment tool using APA 7th edition format. The paper is to be a minimum of 8 pages double-spaced, not including title and reference pages. Students are to research at least one current peer-reviewed journal article (within a 5 year time frame). The paper is to include the following:
Completion of the Assessing your conflict style on pages 152-153 to help identify your conflict style from the Interpersonal Conflict text. Students are to include the completed assessment with the submission of your final paper. Points will be deducted if assessment is not included in the submission. In addition, students are required to research their identified conflict style using up to date peer reviewed articles. To help guide students through the self-assessment process, students are to answer 2-3 questions of their choice from each section of the Conflict Assessment Guide on pages 250-252. The studentsâ responses to the assessment guide are to be incorporated into the paper and is not to be written in question form.
Within the analysis paper students are to interpret the results of the conflict assessment (pg 152-153) with your own self-perception. Think about what aspects of the results make sense to you and which ones surprised you. Analyze both the results you expected as well as the surprises based on the following:
Your family of origin and their influence on your approach to conflict
Your values and beliefs and their influence on your approach to conflict
Your life experience
Biblical principal supporting conflict
Students are to include specific examples to illustrate your analysis.
Students are to explore which previous styles of conflict management and new styles the student would like to implement in the future
(1) you would like to strengthen or focus on further as you develop your conflict management skills. Which skills do you think you will need to strengthen in order to be successful in your potential career and why?
(2) you would like to utilize less frequently or more strategically. Explain why and under what circumstances.
