-The project primarily consists of the creation of a video presentation from you and your group members. Working as groups of three (depending on number of students) you are to sign up for one of the systems and diseases/disorders listed below and develop a case study, based on the diseases or disorder you selected. This scenario will emphasize anatomy, mostly normal anatomy and how that disease affects anatomy. You will also briefly discuss any major treatments of this disorder (Please see Chapter 7, p250 Clinical Case Study for an example).
-Your video will also have visuals that help explain your normal anatomy and how the disease affects this. In order to enhance your learning of this topic, you will be required to create your own images for this presentation. Please either draw and scan these images or make them using computer software. They do not have to be works of art but should be clear and accurate and have appropriate labels. Please do not use any images in the presentation that you did not make yourselves.
-When making your video, make sure your images are large enough and you don’t have too much text on the screen at once. Your voice over should explain what you are showing on the screen – do not simply read all of the words off a slide.
-Your project will need to include at least 3 sources. These should be from reputable sources such as peer-reviewed journal articles, websites from reliable sources, scientific textbooks, videos from reliable sources, etc. You will need to include an APA-formatted bibliography, citing these sources in the appropriate format (see the RDC library website), this can be included at the end of the presentation. If you have questions about the reliability of sources or APA formatting you may ask me.
-Please make 3 questions to ask the class based on your presentation (this part is pass/ fail). They can be any relevant questions on your disease, the normal anatomy or treatments to your disease and should either be in fill-in or multiple choice format. Include these at the end of the presentation (this does not count towards your total presentation time either). Your classmates will answer your questions in the discussion forum in order to encourage engagement and will form a small part of everyone’s participation mark in this class.
Post your video to blackboard in the discussion section. This way you can easily share you video with the rest of the class and me. Your classmates will also be able to comment on your video and answer your questions in the comment section. Please post your video by 11:59 pm on the respective due date.
Evaluation sheets will be posted on Blackboard below: please look at these, they are an excellent guide when making your presentation. They contain the breakdown of the marks for each component of the project and will give you an idea of what I am looking for and what to focus on when making the presentation.
