In healthcare, people are aware of the terminology “evidence-based practice” or “evidence-based management,” but some do not fully grasp/absorb the conceptual framework.
Specifically, it should include the nature and level of the evidence, the environment/context into which the research is to be placed, and the method in which the process is facilitated. When discussing EBM, students are encouraged to critically think about a checklist to assess what they would need to do to successfully implement research into practice. Their thoughts transfer into a tangible checklist. They realize the significance of scientific inquiry and how vital it is to health care. Evidence-based management practices involve using the results of research and evaluation to the extent possible to select intervention techniques and other procedures that have evidence of effectiveness.
The utilization of evidence-based decision making is an important element of quality improvement and management. There are three components to evidence based management:
Interpretation and utilization of research;
Evaluation of practice; and
Conducting research.
The process for EBM includes five fundamental steps:

Step 2: Identify articles and other evidence-based resources that answer the question.
Step 3: Critically appraise the evidence.
Step 4: Make a decision and apply the evidence.
