BACKGROUND LITERATURE (heading1 – Times New Roman, 16 font size, bold, black, centered)
Tell the readers what you are about to tell them. This should include the areas on your topic, which will be featured in this section of the paper. Summarize the background of the problem, telling what is known, and not known about your topic; link studies that provide favorable findings and those with less favorable findings; identify study gap. Each area has a sub-heading (heading 2- arial, 14 font size, bold, black, italicized, left aligned). If there are sub-headings within subheading 2, those become (heading 3 – arial, 13 font size, bold, black, left aligned followed by a period). After summarizing background matters, make a transitional statement indicating that you plan to provide a frame of reference section to describe the basis for your inquiry. All areas of the background literature are double spaced using normal type face in Times New Roman.
FRAME OF REFERENCE (heading1)
Provide a summary of the frame of reference and its applicability to the study (normal). As such you are describing how data can: inform Occupational Therapys about the targeted populationâs problems; how the frame of reference can, enhance plans for future interventions used to alleviate the problem/s. Remember that in using the PICO system, the âPâ represents the problem and targeted population. All areas of the frame of reference are double spaced using normal type face in Times New Roman.
