1. TOPIC – Students need to choose and discuss a service improvement topic/idea based on a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) reports of an organisation providing services to people with Mental Health nursing needs.
2. COLLECTION OF EVIDENCE AND ANALYSIS – Students need to collect available evidence. e.g. Care Quality Commission Reports, policies, guidelines, and research evidences. All evidence needs to be analysed and used in presenting information as appropriate.
3. WRITTEN REPORT USING THE FOLLOWING STRUCTURE – ⢠Introduction:
– Introduce the service improvement/change topic/idea, the assignment aims and objectives, and coverage.
⢠Background:
– Present an overview of Care Quality Commission (CQC) as an
organisation and the process of producing their inspection report.
– Present an overview of the selected organisation/service, including the
type of services provided, service coverage, service delivery challenges/barriers, the service-usersâ needs, type of staff employed, and the rationale for selecting the CQC report for the assignment.
– Define key terminologies/subjects inherit in the service improvement/ change management topic/idea and the Care Quality Commission reports and discuss relevant guidelines and policies drivers.
– Present information on what is known about the proposed service improvement topic/idea in the healthcare industry, the coverage, and limitations
– Discuss the need, rationale, and scope for the proposed service improvement topic/idea, and discuss expected benefits
⢠Main body/Evaluation â
– Methodology: Describe the change management report approach or
process undertaken in completing it. Did you interview anybody or was it based on sourcing, reviewing, and interpreting available evidence and reports/information?
– Results/findings- Present an objective summary and discussion of the key findings of the Care Quality Commission report on the selected organisation/service and how it supports to the service improvement topic/idea.
– Discussion- Based on the CQC report findings, critically analyse your management report findings on the improvement idea/topic, its relationship and significance to available research, and assess if the aim of the report has been achieved
⢠Service Improvement/Change management plan
– Choose a change management model(s), explain the rational for
choosing the model, identify stakeholders, use the change model to propose a SMART change management action plan for your improvement idea/topic, develop an implementation schedule, and a communication plan
⢠Implications for practice
– Discuss the impact or effect of the findings of your management report
to mental health nursing and patient outcomes
⢠Conclusion â Summarise the outcomes of the change management
report, making Judgements and decisions related to the results of the information analysed.
4. LEVEL 6 WRITING – Students need to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge, and analytical awareness and evaluation of current and complex issues and developments; comprehensive understanding of research techniques; original application of knowledge, making sound judgements and proposing new hypotheses; self-direction and autonomous working
Students need to include evidence and research to support their writing and analysed e.g. legislation and ethical models, research on service delivery, research on service evaluation methods, research in nursing practice, National reports/guidelines, Professional guidance and reports, other relevant sources.
