Environmental justice (EJ) is a concept that all people and communities are entitled to enjoy an equally clean environment and resources, regardless of their race and socioeconomic status. Communities that face environmental injustice and higher risk of exposure to environmental hazards due to race, ethnicity, and low socioeconomic status (SES) communities are known as EJ communities (Amiri & Zhao, 2018). Students are to relate discussions to local EJ communities in how hazards affecting air, water, and/or soil affect the population. Be acquainted to the environment in the zip codes where you live and work, especially assigned sites. Be especially mindful that nurses are exposed to environmental toxins; these substances affect nurses and their families.
