Women with postpartum hemorrhage and acute blood loss anemia, Implementing the Improving Healthcare Response to Obstetric Hemorrhage toolkit compared medications to current medication practice, impact the rate of blood loss and mortality in 8 weeks?
professor response to my initial post
Hello J- great discussion!
I am looking through the lens based on how Clinical Practice Guidelines come to be. To review, Clinical Practice Guidelines are developed through a systematic review of the evidence, an assessment of the potential benefits and harms of the recommendations, and, if appropriate, a cost-benefit analysis of the recommendations. Your paper may very well be the building blocks towards the creation of guidelines.
One of the underlying aspects why we do what we do as DNP prepared nurses is to address the business side of caring. Although I would like to think of healthcare as an entity with two sides: healthcare as a right and healthcare as a business. Bottomline is healthcare entails cost. Caring in a healthcare environment entails cost. So, it is not much to my surprise the involvement of cost in each and every project.
Guidelines result from considerable attention focused on ways of improving health outcomes through initiatives aimed at improving the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care. In a brief review, clinical practice guidelines are systematically developed statements that intend to assist clinicians and patients in making decisions about appropriate health care in specific circumstances (Field & Lohr, 1990).
Although adherence to guidelines remains variable, empirical evidence shows that guidelines improve patient outcomes. It is therefore that guidelines require active dissemination and innovative implementation strategies at any given setting. Guidelines, in another aspect help decrease cost which is a downstream revenue.
Your PICOT needs to be implemented in the future. With the evidence that supports your intervention, I don’t see why not.
Great work on your post.

Implementing the Improving Healthcare Response to Obstetric Hemorrhage Toolkit to Impact Postpartum Hemorrhage has significant implications for nursing and healthcare outcomes. Postpartum hemorrhage, a major contributor to maternal death, was shown to be less common and less severe due to the study’s interventions. Hence, the toolkit’s implementation could enhance maternal health outcomes and save many lives.
One implication of this intervention is that it highlights the importance of standardized protocols in healthcare. Quantification of blood loss (QBL) is a systematic procedure used in an obstetric hemorrhage bundle that has been found to enhance outcomes and minimize costs (Kahr et al., 2018). This toolkit highlights the need for standardized procedures in healthcare, especially in obstetrics, to enhance patient outcomes. The significance of nurses in enhancing patient outcomes is another aspect of this intervention. QBL procedures rely heavily on the input of nurses for their creation, implementation, and maintenance. QBL is executed by RNs and falls within their purview of duties (Hire et al., 2021). Implementing the toolkit requires the education and training of nursing staff to ensure the proper use and reinforcement of interventions. This highlights the importance of nursing leadership and the need for ongoing education and training to improve patient outcomes (King et al., 2021).
Furthermore, implementing the toolkit can have broader healthcare policies and regulations implications. Nursing leaders can work with policymakers to ensure the toolkit is implemented in healthcare facilities. This can lead to healthcare policy and regulation changes, prioritizing maternal health outcomes and using evidence-based interventions. The findings of this study also have implications for healthcare policymakers. Implementing the Improving Healthcare Response to Obstetric Hemorrhage Toolkit can potentially reduce healthcare costs by preventing complications associated with postpartum hemorrhage. Policymakers can use this information to advocate for implementing this toolkit in healthcare facilities and to allocate resources to support the training and education of nursing staff.Implementing the Improving Healthcare Response to Obstetric Hemorrhage Toolkit to Impact Postpartum Hemorrhage has significant implications for nursing and healthcare outcomes.
