In the first half of this discussion post, please take a few moments to introduce yourself and get to know your peers. Tell us how long you have been a practicing nurse and what your current level of experience is with community and population health.
Vulnerable populations are those groups who have an increased risk for developing adverse health outcomes. A vulnerable population group is a subgroup of the population that is more likely to develop health problems as a result of exposure to risk or have worse outcomes from these health problems than the rest of the population. In the second half of this discussion post, identify a local vulnerable population (in your area) that you are interested in learning more about and helping through a health education activity. Identify the vulnerable population and briefly discuss what you think their health needs might be (in three to four sentences). This should be the focus of your health education activity, which will be due in Module Five.

My name is Mishemarkin Brutus, I am 30 years old and live in Sharon, Massachusetts and have been a nurse for almost 6 years. I received my License Practical Nurse (LPN) degree from Blue Hills Regional Technical School in June 2017. I went back to school and earned my Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) at Massasoit Community College approximately two years ago after working for about a year in a subacute nursing home. As a charge nurse, I began my work at Elizabeth Seton Residence where I encountered and provided care for many chronic patients with critical conditions including Diabetes, COPD, stroke, heart disease, Renal transplant etc. I have experience working in the long-term, short-term, and psychiatric nursing fields of nursing, but I most recently began working on an Acute care stroke/Infectious unit with other disease complications at Boston Medical Center.
