In this course, I anticipate to continue learning the various roles, responsibilities, and required skill-sets to be an effective family nurse practitioner. I also look forward to enhance my knowledge in diagnostic skills, and be able to convey this information clearly for patients to understand. I expect to improve my performance in disease prevention, and management of chronic diseases based on evidence-based practice and clinical practice guidelines. According to Rees et al. (2021), in order to improve the profession of nursing and continue the high standards of the profession, it is imperative to use evidence-based knowledge in our practice.
I anticipate to gain more confidence in my decision making, along with formulating the appropriate treatment, and diagnostic plans for each patient’s plan of care. Moreover, I look forward to learn additional knowledge from my clinical preceptor, who is a family nurse practitioner in primary care. In this clinical rotation, I anticipate to continue my hands-on training experience in the primary care setting, and be exposed to a more diverse population. I am eager to learn new clinical diagnoses, and achieve my clinical objectives for the course. Keeping up to date with new health care innovations, treatment strategies, and technological health advances, are crucial in this profession to be able to provide quality care to patients and their families (Rees et al., 2021).
Based on my previous clinical experiences, my own personal clinical objectives include time management with patient evaluations and charting; effective communications with patients and colleagues in the clinic; better decision-making skills, along with providing appropriate treatment plans and interventions. There are just so much to learn, study, and gain knowledge from this course and the clinical rotation. However, I am ready to embark on such journey.
