Intervention and measures taken to prevent bullying.
Bullying has evolved into a significant risk for children of all ages, including adolescents. One of the most common factors that contribute to people taking their own lives is severe bullying. Bullying that is repeated over a period can cause its victims to experience feelings of alienation, hopelessness, denial, depression, and anxiety, all of which can lead to suicidal ideation. As a result, it is of the utmost importance to investigate the factors that increase the likelihood of bullying occurring, as well as to devise methods to stop bullying and support people who have been victimized by it.
Parents and people who work in health care can both benefit from being able to recognize bullying situations and respond in the right way. Healthcare providers can help parents with their children’s mental health by sending them to the right places if they can spot any signs of bullying. Employees in the medical field are always capable of recognizing these early symptoms, testing the client, and recommending the most suitable treatment to fix the psychological problems that are the result of bullying (Stopbullying.gov, 2017). Individuals should be encouraged to participate in activities designed to enhance their social and emotional learning, as this is one of the recommendations made to combat bullying. It’s possible for schools to lend a hand in the fight against bullying by doing things like encouraging positive friendships and healthy social interactions between students (Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, 2019). Adults are strongly encouraged to serve as positive models for others by engaging in socially responsible behaviors. They always have the option to step in and defend those who have been bullied while also showing social acceptance to those who are likely to be vulnerable. Adults can also be of assistance by resolving differences and clearing up any misunderstandings that may have contributed to the bullying.
So, both parents and teachers, as well as students’ peers, need to work together to stop bullying. People always have the option of speaking up for their peers who are more vulnerable and getting involved in efforts to prevent bullying in their schools and even at home. Stopping bullying could stop or even lessen suicidal thoughts and actions in people who have been bullied. Friends who are lonely or isolated can always benefit from the emotional support of their peers, which will help them feel more a part of the group. Bullying can be stopped if people start to act in these more positive ways, and people who have been bullied in the past can get help getting back into a happy society.
