The purpose of this assignment is for you to clearly define and understand the roles of patient educator and patient advocate.
Discuss how both these roles are implemented when caring for patients. Additionally, you may use The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Nursing Practice and The Essentials: Core Competencies for Nursing Education.
To successfully complete this assignment, do the following:
1. Review the The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Nursing Practice.
2.Review other pertinent evidence-based literature to identify roles of the professional nurse.
3. Write a professional roles paper that includes the following components:
-Description of the AACN nursing roles and primary responsibilities associated with the roles of patient educator and patient advocate
– Discuss the primary responsibilities associated with those roles (this must come from an evidence-based nursing resource);
-Discussion of how the implementation of these professional roles affects the care of patients, families, and communities;
-Discussion of how you have functioned in one or more of these roles as a student nurse or practicing nurse OR how you would expect to function in the role(s);
-Use the course textbook, the essentials document, and other relevant sources such as nursing journals to help you write the paper. You must paraphrase relevant outside information and do not use direct quotes.
– Utilize your APA manual, note narrative and parenthetical citations on the inside cover. Note examples for references within the sample professional paper.
– Utilize examples from the literature as well as personal example if applicable for our practicing RN’s. All students should use at least 3 references. References must be from within the past five years.
Requirements
In order to successfully complete this assignment, you should adhere to the following guidelines:
– Required components: Title page with running head, abstract and key words, body, and reference page. If you are not sure about terms such as running head please consult your APA book.
-Your final submission should be minimum of 2 pages and a maximum of 3 pages of content or meat, excluding title page, abstract, and references. Utilize a level I heading only to enhance organization and clarity. In other words, the paper should include a title page, abstract, 2-3 pages of content, and a reference page.
– Write the paper using APA format – Professional Paper sample (page 50 APA Manual). Do not use the Author Note component in your paper.
-Utilize at least three outside sources (textbook, Essentials document, and at least one nursing journal article or professional nursing organization website.
-Do not use direct quotes.
