In this paper you will be tasked with illustrating a family transition based on the perspective of someone who has recently gone through this experience. You will discuss how the transition has influenced the individual, other family members, and the family as a whole. The processes involved in the transition should also be discussed
Paper must be 5-6 pages, 12-point font, double spaced, one-inch margins. You must show that you have done the reading assignments via appropriate use of terms and citations in your paper. Make sure you cite readings and lectures throughout the paper. As a guide, you should have at least one term, finding, issue you learned about in class and cite accordingly.
You will interview someone who has recently experienced (within the last three years) one of the following transitions:
Marriage
Parenthood (becoming a parent)
Empty nest household (last child has just left the home)
Grandparenthood (becoming a grandparent)
Divorce
Death of a parent, spouse, or child
Re-marriage
In your paper you must discuss the issues below. Thus, you must ask your interviewee questions that will help you answer all the questions below.
What are the demographic characteristics of the family? (who is living in the household, ages, education level, job status, ethnic/national background, etc.)
What kinds of stresses have been associated with this transition?
What evidence do you have that the family is developing or changing as a result of this event?
What new family roles have been assumed as a result of this transition?
What roles have been given up?
What family rules have been created or changed?
Have there been any changes in the family membersâ patterns of interaction?
Are there ways in which the family remains stable or resists change?
Are any of the familyâs needs at risk of not being met? Which ones? Is there evidence of pile-up of stressor events?
What are some of the cognitive and/or behavioral coping strategies used in the family to deal with the transition?
What coping resources does the family have that would help them to adapt to the transition?
Is there any evidence of role strain (a member having to assume too many roles) or role conflict (member having to cope with competing role demands) as a result of the transition?

Introduction of the transition and the family (who did you interview, what transition is being examined, and demographic characteristics)
Middle paragraphs:
Address issues 2 through 10 identified above in whatever order makes most sense to you.
