OVERVIEW
Students will complete a research paper discussing leadership theory and highlighting the benefits and problems associated with a specific leadership theory. Students will also evaluate the specific leadership theory from a biblical perspective. The research students will engage in for this assignment is beneficial to enable an understanding of best practices involved in leading an organization successfully. Students will also expand their knowledge of existing research on leadership theories which may inform personal research pursuits including those involved in the dissertation research process.
The student will write an 8 to 10-page research-based paper that focuses on leadership. The paper should address the following topics related to leadership theory:
1. Explain what leadership is.
2. Discuss the relationship between power and leadership providing at least one example.
3. Selected a theory of leadership from the textbook or another independently sought
source. Identify and explain the basic premises of that leadership theory.
4. Discuss the benefits of using your chosen leadership theory.
5. Discuss any potential problems you see with the use of your chosen leadership theory in
the real world.
6. Discuss whether any of the elements in your chosen leadership theory would be supported and/or contradicted with regard to a Biblical worldview.
For each topic addressed, you should cite peer-reviewed sources in support of the information that you discuss. A minimum of five peer-reviewed journal articles should be cited and referenced for this paper (although you are encouraged to use as many more as you would like).
