The purpose of this assignment is to help you evaluate basic statistical analyses used in selected counseling research articles.
Instructions
Review the articles by Halstead et al. (2014) and Jing et al. (2017) from this week’s Required Readings. Then answer the following questions for each article:
1. Which variables or measures were compared?
2. Was the design true-experimental, quasi-experimental, or non-experimental? Explain your decision.
3. What was the result of the between-groups analysis used in the study?
4. Was the result statistically significant?
5. What was the magnitude of the difference (effect size)?
6. How is the illustration of the differences between the compared groups important to counseling?
7. What explanations do the researchers offer for the nature of the differences between the groups?
Provide at least one alternative explanation for each between-groups analysis performed and explain why, in your opinion, this alternative explanation might be plausible.
