this term paper, you’ll be focusing on a single design – one that exists in the world or one that you are imagining. Whether the actual design exists determines how the paper is written, but in either case, the main focus is on how psychological principles apply to the design context.
• Existing designs: Describe the design and how it already does utilize psychological principles – in what ways, accommodating what issues. Describe also how it fails to utilize psychological principles and what changes you would make, were you able, to incorporate these principles.
• Imagined (novel) design: Describe the design and how, in detail, it is founded on and utilizes psychological principles – in what ways, accommodating what issues.
Describe also how conflicts arise during this process and what compromises must be made between mutually incompatible psychological principles/needs.
• Along the way, you’ll be responsible for submitting three overall products – a topic statement (a description of the design on which you’ll focus), an outline of the paper (each major section and its rough contents roughed out), and the final paper. There are many approaches that can be taken to the paper and as long as the requirements are met those various approaches are all acceptable.
