To promote critical thinking in the context of psychology, students will be responsible for developing an
APA-style paper that covers a topic related to chapters in the course text that is framed by either of the
following: social issues, diversity, identity, and inclusion. The body of the paper should be between 3-4
pages. The paper is NOT a summary of the chosen textbook chapter that the student bases the
paper on and should be informed by relevant research (peer-reviewed article) and alternative
interpretations or viewpoints compared to those presented in the course text. Students should also
clearly include and address 3 concepts of their choosing from “The Ultimate Cheatsheet for Critical
Thinking” handout, which can be found on D2L.
1) Clearly introduce the topic or issue, including making clear its relevance to course material (5
points),
2) Present research from a peer-reviewed article that is different from material in the class syllabus
(15 points),
*Students are encouraged to include peer-reviewed articles by people of color (POC). A
